1 Kilogram net weight – Length is more than 128 Meters
100% VIRGIN PLA
Contains NO plasticizers (such as polyester, etc)
Virgin PLA will when exposed to air, light, bacteria and moisture become brittle.
Time till it becomes brittle varies of course by location but in the San Francisco Bay area we did observe some brittleness when spool was left in machine over the summer vacation at UC Berkeley.
Brittleness Solution: Put spool back into plastic container with the desiccant pack that came with it. Zip lock bags that can be used to extend shelf life are available.
If you have other brand PLA that has been out in air, light and moisture for 6 months and did not become somewhat brittle on spool it is likely that it contains a plasticizer. This negates advantage of PLA being a plant biodegradable material.
Printing with a plasticizer in PLA should be done under a hood as fumes from plastics being melted could harm your body.
